Transitions and Life Skills Therapist in NYC
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — I use CBT to identify and validate the transition you are going through, then evaluate how to best help you move through the part of the transition you are struggling with. Oftentimes this brings us to learning new life skills you haven’t had to learn before. We figure these out together and take steps to learn them (i.e.,budgeting, moving, dealing with a difficult boss, etc.)
Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT) — REBT is an industry best practice for examining the irrational beliefs you are telling yourself about the situation you are struggling through. Sometimes when going through change we are extra hard on ourselves, the REBT method emphasizes unconditional self-acceptance. With unconditional self-acceptance, transitions become more manageable and we can identify and learn the practical skills that are necessary for these transitions.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Using evidence-based DBT techniques helps you with life skills and transitions by focusing on four core skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
